Several large trees were to be removed from this graveyard, all of which were in close proximity to graves and gravestones.

As this graveyard was extremely inaccessible machinery had to be lifted over the wall off the arm of a digger. There is very little room to manoeuvre, as can be seen from the position of the chipper in the above picture. All timber was removed using the same process

Part of a row of large beech trees which were deadwooded and crown thinned removing large heavy and undesirable branches overhanging old and very valuable gravestones.

Two very large Sycamore trees one which was crown thinned and also crown lifted, the other which had to be completely removed.

This picture shows the rotten sludge like material which was pouring from a hollow in the tree.

The above pictures show the severity of the rot as the main tree trunk which was forked in two had become completely rotten and hollow.

Work in progress as tree is dismantled safely

The tree was removed in stages as there were expensive headstones in and around the base of the tree, large pieces were carefully lowered on a pulley and rope.

The tree was completely removed, branches chipped and timber was removed to neighbors grounds to be used as firewood.

Before and after of a large shelterbelt at rear of house, the trees were approximately 40 feet high.
